WHAT IS A MINI NUBIAN???
A Miniature Nubian is the product of a standard size registered
Nubian (preferably a doe) bred to a Nigerian Dwarf (buck)
for the first generation (aka F1) of Mini Nubians.
Each generation (F1, & F2) of Mini Nubians will be called
an experimental until it reaches the 3rd generation.
At this level (F3, F4, & F5) the Mini Nubian can be
entered in the American herdbook IF it meets the Breed
Standards AND characteristics. Sixth generation
(F6) is considered Purebred and can be entered into the
Purebred herdbook.

BREED STANDARD
American and Purebred Miniature Nubians
The Mini-Nubian is a mid-sized goat being of mixed Nigerian
and Nubian origin. It is known for being a graceful,
elegant animal standing between 22-31 inches
and comes in any color or pattern of short, fine, glossy hair.
This mid-sized goat is known for its ease of milking;
producing a high quantity and quality of milk
whose butterfat yield is similar to that of the standard Nubian.
Emphasis is placed on a structurally correct animal with
well-attached udder that milks with ease. As this breed
was originally designed for small farms and
homesteaders who milk by hand and needed a
smaller animal for handling and
feeding purposes. The breed character setting the
Mini-Nubian apart from other Mini's is a nose
that is never dished, but straight to strongly convex
(with the strongly convex being more desirable). And distinctive,
long, wide, and pendulous ears that when held along the face
reach the end of the nose. They should be held close
to the head where they attach and then widen and flare
out and forward to a rounded tip, making the classic "bell"
shaped ear standard Nubians are so well known for.
No part of the Mini-Nubian should be coarse, but instead dairy and
refined (with masculinity for bucks); with soft supple skin
and udders, strong correct legs, wide flat boning throughout, sharp
shoulder blending into a long and graceful neck, and ample
width and depth for kidding and milking purposes.
Maximum height: Does 29” Bucks 31”

HOW TO DETERMINE GENERATION
Kids are always one generation higher than their lowest
generation parent... Pure Nigerian & Pure Nubian are "0" or
FOUNDATION animals (hence the F)
F1 means 1 generation above Foundation.. F2 is 2
generations above Foundation... And so on...
ANY generation (F1 thru F6) bred to a PURE Nigerian
or Nubian... Kids are F1
F1 bred to F1.. Kids are F2
F2 bred to F2.. Kids are F3
ETC....
Now if you mix generations... THAT'S where it gets fun :)
F1 bred to F4 ... Kids are... F2
Get that?? If not go back and look.. The LOWEST generation parent is the F1...
Therefore the kids are 1 generation higher... making them F2...
Here's another example.. (see if you get it right)
F3 bred to F2... Kids are ??? F3 !!!!!
It's really quite simple :) You'll get the hang of it... I promise :-)
Percentages are the TRULY fun part...
I'll explain that later... lol
